Heart valve disease (HVD) can be significantly influenced by systemic autoimmune diseases, which may exacerbate or modify the progression of valve pathologies. This article reviews the interplay between systemic autoimmune diseases and heart valve disease, including mechanisms, diagnostic challenges, and therapeutic approaches. We discuss the impact of autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and scleroderma on heart valve function, and highlight recent advances in understanding and managing these complex interactions.
