Abstract

Heart valve calcification (HVC) is a common condition that contributes to valvular stenosis and dysfunction. Diabetes mellitus has been implicated as a potential risk factor for increased HVC. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the impact of diabetes on heart valve calcification by synthesizing data from various studies. We assess the prevalence and severity of HVC in diabetic patients compared to non-diabetic individuals and explore the underlying mechanisms through which diabetes may influence calcification. Our findings highlight the need for targeted management strategies in diabetic patients to address the risk of heart valve calcification.
