Abstract

Structural valve deterioration (SVD) represents a critical challenge in the management of prosthetic heart valves. This condition involves the progressive degradation of the valve structure, leading to compromised valve function and adverse clinical outcomes. This article reviews the current understanding of the causes of SVD, strategies for its prevention, and available treatment options. We also discuss recent advances and future directions in addressing this important aspect of heart valve therapy.
